One of our hens has a swollen foot, it feels slightly hotter than the other. When we looked closely we could see a circular looking scab. We've washed her foot with salt water, then anti septic (for chickens) and tried to remove scab. No puss came out when we gave it a  little squeeze. We've bandaged her foot up with antispetic and gauze. She is not limping and still flies/jumps onto my arm when I walk into run. She is eating constantly. She is now in a hen house with a lower perch, sawdust on floor. She is roosting. We are going to put her into a a run on her own tomorrow. What else can we do? IS a trip to the vets needed or could it be she has banged her leg when she jumps down? Please help

I'll book an appointment for later when the vets open. We've put her in a run with a towel on the floor (over plastic sheeting) and I've just let her have a run on the grass. Its clearly not painful as no limp and she is still scratching in the grass for bugs. Thanks for the advice.

Taken her to vets, infection but don't think it is bumblefoot (yet!). Anti-inflamatory injection and anti-biotics for the next 7 days! That'll be fun.
