disinfecting
« on: January 09, 2010, 22:16 »
Hi
We have a wooden coop that is actually part of our barn, so I'm not able to dismantle it for cleaning. My girls have decided they would like to get some chickens and sell eggs.  We are in the process of shoveling and scraping out as much of the old stuff that we can but my question is, is there something I can use on the dirt floor and work it in to help disinfect? Preferably a dry product of some sort? Perhaps a dumb question but I figured better to ask!!!
Thanks!

Not a dumb question at all! :)
A lot of people use old stable for chooks. A good dry product to get you started this time of year would be Stalosan F.
Wecome to the forum! :D :D

Hi and welcome, I use stalosan F on the floor of their coups, and for a liquid diinfectant I use Vanodine which is also great for disinfecting their feeders and drinkers once a week. Hope this helps.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Thank you all!
Is there another name for Stalosan F, or an ingredient name?  The only place I could find to buy it was via the internet.  I wondered if my local farm supply store (B.C., Canada) would have it under another name. Thanks for all your feedback.
