comfrey
« on: June 22, 2009, 09:10 »
I have read a lot of good things about Comfrey and need to ask does it matter if it is wild comfrey not the 14 that everyone is raving about? only mother in law has loads of wild comfrey next door to her so I've chopped some down and replanted it here. Also I've started a Comfrey tea for my tomatoes but not sure of the strength its in a old washing up bowl covered in water and starting to smell, do I wait for the leave too rot completely or what - any help welcomed. Thanks all.

Wild comfrey works fine for making plant food, but keep a close eye on it or it will take over your whole plot Mwahhahahah!  ???

The liquid, when ready, is almost black in colour and the leaves will have become a black/dark green slimey mess that can go on the compost heap. The liquid needs to be diluted - I put about half a mug full in a gallon watering can and water over the leaves of your plants liberally.

Enjoy! (but keep one eye on the comfrey!!)
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

Don't do it just before you're going to eat your sandwiches though.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
