hi guys.sorry if this has already been answered

does anyone know how to get rid of the big white maggot/grub looking things that are eating roots on my veg(mainly onions)..i think they are weevles or something like that

RHS Vegetable book says Onion Fly, young plants killed by the maggots.

It says treatment is:
Soil treatment with Lindane or Primiphosmethyl when sowing will control in the early stages of this pest.

Book is from 2006-2008 so the EU rules may have changed since printing.

They have, even the RHS site has no recomendations, apart from covering with mesh to prevent it
