Tips for Polytunnel bed
« on: February 24, 2008, 21:24 »
I have erected my walk-in polytunnel, and have built a 11'x2.5' raised bed.

Just looking for tips/advice on what would be best to grow?

Do I just go for 'usual' veg, and extend the season - or do I go for more exotic veg that will need the protectiion / extra warmth?

hmmm???

What do you like eating Gaz????

I must admit my tunnel and greenhouses get more tomatoes and chillies than anything else, but last year with a bit of spare space, I grew some of my runner beans and peas in the tunnel as well as cucumbers and melons.

I have grown left over seed potatoes too and leeks and carrots and spinach!

However, at the moment, it's growing chickens!!!!!

sweet potatoes  :D  Expensive from the shops but delish

KG magazine does a monthly column about growing under cover and Joy L covers it in depth in her veg handbook

You'll be able to extend your growing season with the PT that's for sure  :D
