Getting really fed up with the slugs eating our veg before we do!

I know we've had several threads on the subject but I wondered I I could start a simple top tips for getting rid of slugs.... so that anybody could glance through the posts and easily see what people reckon works.... I'm pretty much a newbie so can't really claim that I know of anything that works yet

Hi
I have used growing Success slug pellets which are not too bad, and supposed to be harmless to wildlife.
Last week I put in some beer traps but I expect they are full of water now, so I can't say yet if they work!

This year for the first time I have used nematodes. First application was 3 weeks ago and so far I am impressed. My greens are without holes for the first time.  The real tests though will be when I pick strawberries, lift potaoes and cut winter cabbage

Possibly not an option on an allotment... I don't know... but I let my chickens loose on any parts of the veg plot that are not in use and they hoover up slugs brilliantly.

Ducks are even better and have access to my plot all year (they don't eat the veg) I have very few slugs as a result.
