I'm not sure that this is the right place to put this - so mods feel free ot move it if it should be elsewhere.

I am just wondering if anyone out there has any practical experience of permaculture.  I was talking to an old friend last night and bemoaning my veggie woes, and he mentioned that there is a place near him (in Belgium) that runs courses in permaculture and that long-term it might be one answer to my growing needs. 

In one way it sounds great - I try very hard to be as eco whatever as possible, so it does sound as though it would fit in.  But I am also a bit conservative in some ways and I am a bit suspicious

Can anyone fill me in on any details of permaculture at all.  I tried googling it but just come up with very abstract descriptions of it and no "real" information

From the second thread, I can recommend The Earth Care Manual by Patrick Whitefield, got it out of the library this week and it's a fascinating read.
