Ha ! only 4 - 5 foot Andy.  My Alderman peas were still skyward at 7 foot, then they fell over through no support and started growing skyward all over again.       Cheers,    Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

I grew Champion of England peas this past summer and must admit I wasn't overly thrilled with the yield. Had lovely big plants but yields didn't match so I wouldn't bother with them again myself.

I don't really think that tall peas necessarily give a bigger yield  They're just not ready all at once, and are easier to pick if you have a bad back, that's also one of the reasons I grow climbing beans rather than dwarf ones

Also, if you grow them six feet tall you generally have to leave a six foot gap in between the rows. Does this have any advantage to growing 3 feet high with a 3 foot spacing?

I do a wide row of peas on one side and French beans on the other side of my bean frame, with no problem.
They are also quite happy on a wigwam ...............so doubt you'd need a 6ft gap.

My purple- podded peas were really tall and beautiful.
Cropping was OK, but this was my first time for peas.  I was just glad they grew at all!

Oasis were small and cropped well.  Will grow both again if I can and do lots more!!(Is it nearly Spring yet?) :)
