Orpington Chick Pics part one
« on: June 06, 2011, 19:02 »
Well these are 3 of our Orpington chicks. (the other two are on a separate post).

They are 5 weeks old, full of life and eating us out of house and home.

We are fairly sure the Black one is a cockerel, named Rufus by my son.
The ginger coloured one we are still not 100%, but our daughter has named it Honey.
The Stripy one we have called Humbug and I am 80% that its a cockerel.

Any thought on who might be who, are welcome, but please don't say they are all cockerels  ;)

See part two for the remaining pics  :tongue2:

Thanks Joyfull, not knowing is better than, "How lovely six Cockerels"

Especially as we lost another Hen today, same symptoms as Dusty whom we lost about a month ago to the day. So a very sad time, glad my husband was here this time not my little boy. On a plus note our 18mth old Back Orpington Hen laid for the very first time last week, so it shows that you should never say never with Hens  :)

yes, but the eggs are all the nicer for the wait, and to think a friend of mine about 6mths ago, questioned why we were even still keeping her as she was costing money to feed and giving nothing in return  not quite they way we saw things and I am glad, as it just shows we were right to persevere.  :D

Think maybe boy, boy, girl in order of appearance. Looks like the top 2 have larger combs than the 3rd.

I am just guessing tho not an expert  :D
