cherry tree
« on: April 18, 2011, 21:40 »
I'm new to this forum so please forgive any mistakes. I have a 7ft ish cherry tree that only wants to flower on the main trunk and not the branches. What have I done wrong?

I have absolutely no idea, but welcome to the site  :D

I don't suppose you're pruning it at all, are you?  If so, when, & how?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

October is a bit late to be pruning a cherry tree - should have been done in about June.  I wonder whether the pruning took off the wood on which this year's blossom and fruit would have grown?

Here's the RHS info on cherries
