Grandkids have hatched some chicks. one seems to have splayed legs. their mother tried the elastic band thing but didn't seemed to work. Any advise?

I haven't hatched myself, but if you do a search in Hen House for chick splayed legs, a lot of previous posts come up that might be useful.

Here is one, but the advice seems fairly consistent over them all.  Try and secure the legs in place, provide a good surface for walking on and hope for the best.  It doesn't always work  :(
