Spent most of my time this afternoon talking to other plot holders!

What a FABULOUS space!

I can see it in 2 years' time - cleared, productive, thriving - lucky you!

Enjoy, enjoy  :D

Thanks!

I have had such a thrill getting this allotment today.
It turned out that of the 17 vacant plots that were on the council website, there were only 7 left when I turned up this morning, and they expect to fill these within the next 2 weeks so I've been really lucky.
Everybody I have met down there has been so friendly and welcoming. I have spent more time chatting and sharing cups of coffee today than getting any work done.  :D
I have had offers of seeds, and people offering to lend me tools, and the obvious advice from the seasoned oldies! There is a secure tool lock up facility so you don't have to leave anything lying about or keep carting it backwards and forwards........fantastic when you have a mini as your means of transport like I do!
My son has been having a great time running about, and even the dog has made some new doggie friends!.....everyone seems to have a dog there! We even ate our fish and chip supper down there!
It's daunting, but very exciting too.
To think I moaned about having to take holiday today cause the kids are off school for voting day!

Best of luck.

Looks to have great potential + u can plan it to how u want it.

My bit of advice for what it's worth is to buy John's books. They are all u need with enthusiasm + of course ask on here.

...and no. I'm not on commission but they helped me out no end.

PUP!
Top tip for camping....don't go.

Congrats, what fun you're going to have planning all that!

John's books are great, also look at this page for some advice on clearing a plot

And enjoy yourself  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thank you all.
I'm sure I'll be asking for advice regularly on here!  ::)

What is really funny is that a few months ago I would never have dreamed of doing anything like this. I came across this site after rehoming some ex batts.

4 chooks, 2 ducks, a garden full of veg and now an allotment as well!

Ta to everyone for inspiring me.

That looks great, like a meadow at the moment but I'm sure it won't stay that way for too long.  Perhaps you could borrow a horse or 2 to help you get the grass down?  :D :D
