Hi everyone

One of my broody hens is overdue her lice tratment and I have found a few eggs on her. I normally frontline my girls, but she currently has chicks with her (8 days old) and I doubt that Frontline would be suitable - can it harm the chick if it is brushed onto them by Mum?
Failing Frontline, what about anti lice powders - are these okay to use?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

If the broody has lice then the chicks probably have too.  This happened to a friend, she frontlined the hen and using a cotton bud, dabbed the chicks too, no bad effect and the lice went

Brilliant! I'll get onto it straight away. She's normally dosed when I do everyone else, but as she was on eggs and then chicks I thought best not to disturb her - a bad judgement call on my part, unfortunately.

All done now thankfully. She really didn't appreciate me grabbing the chicks and so now I'll have a few more scars to join the ones I'd already got a few months back from a completely mental Wyandotte broody!
