7 week old brood and mother
« on: September 22, 2010, 21:30 »
Hi Everyone,

I have a brood of 2 cream legbar's with their black rock mother (henrietta). They are now 7 week old and wanted some advice on what to feed them at what ages and when will the mother start to ignore the young and start laying again. her comb is very red but she stills seems to be mothering them lots.

Many Thanks

Andy

start to mix some growers/rearers pellets in with their chick crumb now and gradually change them over onto growers. As for mum she will start to push them away soon - don't worry she will let you know when she is ready  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

I've had broody hens that have laid eggs for weeks before pushing her young ones away and others that only come into lay once she has rejected her young ones. I suppose each one is slightly different...just like us!
