If you can find a building site locally, ask the site manager if they have any spare. They usually have it for their cabins on site so if you have a supermarket etc. near by having a refit that's the best place to ask! Especially in the last week of the works as this is when the site cabins are removed, that's how I got mine and I have just got another 30meters using the same tactics!! :)

I got the blue pipe for my large sprout hoops by asking at the end of a supermarket build.

As I'm using the hoops I have cut already for pushing into the ground, on the 1.2 x 1.2m decking frame bases I've made, I'm going to go from corner to corner and they end up the same height as those that are pushed in the ground.

In the photo below I've just placed them to have a look and think about it and have not fixed to the frame yet. That's a job for next weekend ;)

I use 4ft canes pushed into the ground. Leave about a foot above and slot the pipe over. Very sturdy.

Why not use pipe brackets?

The type used by plumbers. They come in various sizes and if you use 2 to each pipe, they will be both rigid when needed and easily removable when not. The pipes that is, not the brackets :)

Another nice thing is that they pretty much blend in with the beds, especially the copper ones.

It is what I have used before and will be using again in my new beds this year

Just a thought :)

Only just seen this topic. I know it is a bit late but .....
I cut half way through the diameter about 2 inches from the end then cut along its length to remove half of that 2 inches. tis leaves a flatish surface - screw some 8 inch lengths of wood to the plastic and you can press the wood into the soil, Shape the wood to a point if you like.

May help someone else.
