This summer I bought 3 at a NGS garden day, they are in terracotta flower pots (small ones), because I want to plan them out.    When should I do this, and if spring time is best, shall I pop the pots into a cold greenhouse for the winter.    thanks,    Mrs Bouquet

I think the cold greenhouse would be best.  Hardy salvias are a mixed bunch, but most dislike cold, wet soil so just about tolerate the winter if they are established and in soil that is well drained.

Some are very fussy and are best in pots, but it depends what you have.  Generally it is the fancier coloured ones that are the harder ones to keep going.
