worming chickens
« on: February 03, 2011, 12:11 »
hi all,
I've had my girls since September now and they are in fine fettle, HUGE, bolshy and intent on getting into the house to watch tv. They've given me an egg each all winter, top girls!
When I got them at 4 month, they'd been wormed and i'm guessing it's about time to do it again. Has anyone got any recommended wormers and tips on how to do it? I don't know if i'd trust the ones you add to water, as my girls tend to vandalise the waterer and tip it over, preferring the puddles and drainpipes when they are out in the afternoons. Any help appreciated!

Buy Flubenvet 1% and follow the instructions with that - you mix it with their feed.  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

When worming the hens with flubenvet I know not to give them any treats for the week but I'm never sure if that means no greens either eg. spinach cabbage etc. Can anyone enlighten me  Maggie

If you jump back to the threads of last week there is a post about 2.5% flubinvet. There's lots of info telling you exactly what and how to do it.  Thanks peeps I think I know what I'm doing now.  Got to pick my wormer up at Post Office tomorow.
