silly question re spuds
« on: February 24, 2008, 18:17 »
Hi all,

I know from previous posts that you can freeze cooked and then mashed spuds.  However, can you freeze chopped spuds in their pre-cooked (or at least blanched) state?

A certain frozen food company does lovely frozen roast spuds, but on the other hand, spuds do not like being frozen in the ground.

Any views or previous experimenters out there?? :?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Yes, if you blanch them they freeze well any shape or form. 8)

Thanks for the reply, Gobs

Oh dear... I definitely need a bigger freezer.  I've spent part of this weekend browsing the web for either a table top one or another standard size one... though I can't quite work out where to put it...

I have pounds and pounds of parsnips sitting in the sink waiting for attention too.  :D

Around Christmas time we roast our spuds a few days before untill thye are almost done, let 'em cool cover  if foil then freeze. We have found they freeze really well and cook them again straight from frozen.
