Growing sweetcorn in loo rolls????

Anyone ever heard of starting off sweetcorn in loo rolls?  :D Apparently, it saves disturbing their roots, which they don't like, as once they are ready, you plant them out, loo roll and all, cos it will rot down in the soil......  going to try it this year, but was wondering if people had heard of / tried this thechnique already?

I like using bog rolls for sweet peas, corn and broad beans.   If they go a bit mouldy, try less watering and they'll be fine

Yes, but I'm a little concerned about the Parsnips. once they get going, should I cut off the bottom bit before hardening/planting out???? :?

I'm not sure mine ever broke out beyond the loo roll last year and I found out the hard way that you shouldn't leave any of the paper above ground when you plant them out. Aparently it acts as a wick and evaporates the water dring out your plants.

I've always found that a bit of a problem with all sorts of supposed to rot down root containers, so I can't really be bothered.

I thought that was just me that had that problem  :?  I've had them still intact a year later

I'm doing everything (almost) in paper pots - they should just break down really easily and the roots could just push their way through without any problem (i'm hoping!)

just make sure they have a good watering before you put them in, and then they rot down nicely
I also make sure the pots are buried below surface for the reason above
