i have hay in my incubator and on top of a non slip mat, but the chick seems to keep falling over, like its drunk,


is the straw a bad idea?


Another question ..
One of my eggs had something like bubbly spit, running down the side, upon checking it was dead but any ideas why?

remove the chick if she/he is fluffed up and place it in a brooder box. Make sure you just have the non slip flooring - do not use straw. Straw can harbour all sorts inside the hollow tube plus the fact it isn't a solid base for the chick to walk on.
As for the other dying there could be hundreds of reasons.

The bubbles and dead chick sound like to high humidity and chick drowning on its way out.
I agree with Joyfull on the Straw issue, best incubate artificially on a very sterile surface.

regarding the spit like stuff, it appeard after 10 hours if the chick pippin and pokin its beakout


ok wen i remove the chick to brooder ill remove the straw,
