I didn't like them, I couldn't keep them moist enough, without actually standing them in water - and that was just too wet  :(

I’ve just put some parsnip seeds in them, someone gave me 7 to try.
6 germinated after 3 weeks so I bought 100 off the internet.

I got a kit containing 10 pellets of coir and a load of cuttings of succulents. You hydrate the coir, stick the cutting in the top and wait. They did dry out easily but if you keep an eye on them they're good. I had to pot on all but 3 of them this weekend.

As for seeds I'm not sure what benefit they have over modules...

I think the benefit may be that you don't use plastic disposable seed trays/pots to start them off. Used them for a couple of years now, they do dry out obviously, but I just keep them on meshed seed trays, and dunk them in a gravel tray half filled with water for about ten minutes, seems to work fine. I know you still have plastic trays, but they can be used over and over.

Ah, right. Yes. No plastic, but have they got nutrients in the coir? Seeds need nutrients when they germinate, don't they?

I don't really use disposable plastic now anyway. I got some lime green module trays a few years ago that are much more robust than black ones.
