Hello everyone, I have just acquired a large plot of allotment, and want to get started on it the first week in May, other commitments prevent me doing so before then!!
I was wondering what vegatables would be ideal to plan directly into the ground then for some yield this year?
As well as that my eventual plan is to have the plot split into vegtabels, fruit and herbs, I was hoping to have the edges lined with brambles for fruits with an apple tree and plum tree in each corner, the herbs will the run through the middle for some segregation and then the vegatables on either side, split between all year around root vegatables and the more seaonal vegs? does any of this make sense or am i thinking pie in the sky plan?
Any advice would be gretaly accepted!!

That sounds like a reasonable plan.

But do make sure that you have enough beds / areas to allow for proper rotation of crop types (minimum 3 different types of crops usually).

And check that a) your lotty agreement allows trees, b) you get a dwarf rootstock, and c) you don't shade someone else's plot too much where you plant them.
