Hoping To Get Fruity Next Year!
« on: October 01, 2013, 17:34 »
I have really enjoyed my first year on the plot and I am looking forwards to next years produce already  :)

I am hoping for a bumper crop of fruit next year and have added raspberries, loganberries, tayberries, blackberries, gooseberries, wineberries, black and white currant, rhubarb plus two patio apple trees, 2 patio plum trees, a patio pear tree, a patio peach tree and lots more strawberries (taken as runners from last years crop) to the plot.

I have placed the berries around the perimeter of the plot utilising the fence as a grow frame and created a dedicated plot for the strawberries, rhubarb and patio fruit trees.

I pinched an idea from a magazine and used a couple of old pit boots as strawberry planters.  :tongue2:

I took a few photo's to share......

You might have to be patient for some of the fruit as it does take a while for them to get into their stride. I threatened to hoik out my blackberry as I thought it was a dud but it came good this year and last but it's taken an age  :)

I planted up some old pit boots. Size 20   :)

Looking good there by the way  :)

The boots were destined for the skip, the taller pair were being thrown out as defective and the smaller of the two are 20+ years old and no longer meet current safety regulations, I think I should be congratulated for making good use of something that was only going to end up taking up landfill space.  ;)

Thanks for the nice comment and the tips, I will be patient, maybe I will get enough for a mixed fruit jam if nothing else.  :)

Oh don't worry about non-constructive remarks like that  :nowink:

Enjoy the fruits of your labours. It's what it's all about and I hope you never lose the enthusiasm for the first fruits of the year  :tongue2:
