Habs are usually smaller about 18-24" but do take a lot longer to develop than the other species you mentioned. Might be worth keeping them on a windowsill if you've only just started growing them.

I won';t bother with the Jalapeno's this year though, I was very  disappointed with them.
Why were you dissapointed with 'em parpsnip?
I would like to try just one type and was thinking of Jalapeno. which would you suggest if not?

They hardly  had any flavour and no heat...  In our house they have to blow your head off... ::)

My favourites are the red thai chillis..I use them for all sorts of cooking... :D

Have you tried any baccatums or pubescens chillis, like the habs these usually have lots more flavour (and often heat) than the annuums like jalapenos.
Check out the chileseeds site mentioned earlier and

 for some ideas
Also Simpsons seeds have a good selection

I grew cayenne last year thinking to dry them to use as flakes in cooking :( Had plenty but not hot enough to dry. Just cut up and froze them and used in casseroles without adding much heat.

Can anybody recommend one for drying?

I have grown a lot over the last few years and dry most of mine .
All with by very low heat in oven!
There great for flaking or chucking in an old pepper mill.
pickling is ok freeze i wouldnt do again!

Hi

My prairie fire grew about 12-18 " high and I have a whole bag of small frozen chilli's in the freezer.

They are hot ! O/H bit into 1 and boy did he move

Been advised if you treat them mean, little water and feed, the hotter they get as well as keeping them as warm as possible.

I have managed to sort of over winter my plant in an unheated conservatory, just starting to grow after severe frost bite in the snowy weather, fingers crossed he makes it.

I need to know the heights, as the O/H has a thing about untidy plants ! He bins them  I need to keep them tidy or else they suffer the fate of my Tepin chilli's, toms and aubergines, flung out to get blight. :(
