would feeding my 3 chickens bird food (garden bird seed mix) be in anyway harmful. Getting chicken food delivered is difficult but a local store would deliver 20kg sack of garden bird seed so can I use that to feed wildbirds and not so wild chickens?  They rove free around a large garden and are three years old. Any comments welcome.

Jeannie - your hens need layers pellets to ensure that they remain healthy and produce good eggs - wild bird food would just not be good for them.

The needs of small birds are so different to hens, they are so active but only lay a few eggs so the diet is totally different.  As Springlands has said it would not be good for them. 

Sometimes it is a matter of knowing where to look for your poultry supplies, so as splash101 said if you put your location on hopefully another member will advise you on where to buy your poultry feed and other supplies.
