hi guys  does any body know where i can get some  green manures from, was looking for hungarian rye grass or some thing similar, has anybody used it??   does it really work ?? and is it worth the hasle?   its the end of my proper fist season i have two plots one just full of spuds this year and other with onions,asparagus, fruit and most other basics all in raised beds,i will use my manure on it all, but was reading some books about green manures and how when dug back in its very good for most things....

Have you tried either down your local garden centre or doing a search on the net for it - that's how I got mine.

Use Phacelia myself (doesn't make my hair grow tho') I get it it from Organic gardening

Hi.

I sowed HGR last Autumn. A right * to dig in over Spring of which you need a rotavator or, a strong back!

I do think my soil structure has improved and the proof is in good crops touch wood.

Chuck in Mustard where your spuds were if you had any. Grows to flowering stage in 4 weeks and easy to dig in than manure. Well John's book says that's whats best and strangely enough....it works.
