Thanks mumofstig, have just gone outside and tucked in the seedlings with some nice fleece. :D

Yes, I noticed this earlier in the week when doing a 7 day forecast.  I know that frost occurs at 0degrees, but at how many degrees do we start to be concerned about things like:

potatoes (eg shoots are showing through, 1degree forecast = worry?)
brassica seedlings

I think I will be popping to Poundland tomorrow for a couple of extra fleecy blankets!!

brassica seedlings should be okay in a mild frost but potatoe leaves will scorch

Grabbed hoe and covered earth over some spuds that have been stupid enough to show through since yesterday :nowink:

Now hot cuppa and hope for the best

Actually it doesn't need to be zero for frost, I worry when it's forecast 4deg and clear. Usually only get a light touch though. 1deg and clear, frost is a sure thing. Potatoes can be earthed up though.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

i've just checked the outdoor thermometer and it's 7degrees.
i think it shouldn't get much colder than that here overnight, so i think mine'll be okay.
plus, it's cloudy cos it's rainy and that usually helps to keep the heat in.
