Dorset Naga chillies

I got one on Saturday. I think I'll try to save the seeds...
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I hope you don't mind this being resurrected, but did you have any luck with sdaving and growing the seeds?

We've just been given a plant and don't want to make a mess of looking after it. We haven;t either greenhouse or tunnel, and it's too cold outside, so it'll be growing on the kitchen windowsill.

Thats a good plan! Mine were started on the kitchen windowsill but are now in the conservatory.. Have a flower or 2 on both plants!

We haven't got a conservatory either, so it'll have to make do with the kitchen.

It's still quite small, about 5 inches tall and in a 3 inch pot - no roots showing through yet, so I'm guessing it's happy enough.

There are flower buds, so we'll be seeing some sort of action soon.

Do you know if they need to be pollinated?

Like normal chillies they are self polinating.. I like to help them along with a v fine paintbrush (art not painting walls).. Just gently brush each flower in turn :)

I have heard you can overwinter Chillies. If they are easy to grow it is probably not worth it but for Nagas it might be. So if yours is still small you could see it as getting a head start for next season.

I hope it'll last into next year.

The silly plant has managed to get itself infested with greenfly, they must have been on it when it arrived. I'm hoping they won't move to any other plants in the kitchen.

I was going to spray with washing up liquid, but I'm not sure what strength to use. I managed to kill the last thing I sprayed with it, so it must have been too strong.  :(
