second time around

can soil that was used last year to grow potatoes be used in a bed for growing onions this year?

Can you clarify please?

You say "used in a bed" do you mean "used as a bed" or are you actually moving the soil to another bed?

i want to use soil that was used in bags to grow potatoes in another place to grow onions to help boost depth of onion bed.

There should be no problem disease wise. The nutrients will be depleted, so a good dose of something like chicken manure pellets will be in order.
