Found this pic on Wikipedia and wondered if this is the same breed as yours? A Light Sussex?


Says that pic is a hen, so all may not be lost with your flock.

I found some black and silver sussex's local to me for sale. (Berrys in Pembrey), not sure if you are local but if you know anywhere near me that sells poultry would appreciate the details.

yeah there the same as mine lol the ones you found are called silver sussex

Hi Vember, thanks for the link, found it and have emailed and had a response from my nearest listed, which is 50 miles away. Not SO far, but was hoping that i may find someone nearer.
I think for my first hen's I may buy local to me, I know the feed store and have watched the coops for the last 10 months now. they have a good turnover so they are not old.
If I can find anything nearer then i'd consider it, but 100 miles round trip is a bit expensive and also with 3 children something i'd sooner avoid. Not sure the chooks would enjoy the 'background noise' in the car either!   :?
