Has the foliage died off?  If it has, they won't grow any more.

until the soil warms up and they start all over again LOL
( which you don't want as it may mean you have overwintered blight/other disease on them  )

So as soonas soil thaws I will dig up the rest.

Thanks. :) :)

Very disapointed! Dug mine up on Christmas morning to find about 15 potatoes the size of broad beans.

Notes for next time: Plant them earlier and find a way to keep the frost off!

Never mind!  :(
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

I grew mine (4 x Ulster Classic and 4 x Pentland Javelin) in two large (60ltr?) black plastic tubs; started them on the patio and finished them off in my now heated greenhouse.

In common with Iain's results, the haulms had died back completely by the end of November, however, I decided to leave them in the tubs until the 23rd.

Bearing in mind they were grown with no additional fertilisers, I was pleased with the results overall, even though I didn't manage any large UCs.

I can't give any total weights as I might have accidentally furtled out a meal or two prior to Christmas (:)) and it's suffice to say, they were pigging gorgeous!

Nice result Howard.
I think the way to go with them is to grow in a container and the potatoes you have chosen were excellent for the job. My maincrops were not as big but there was lots of them.

Thanks Iain.

For the record, these are the tubs I used, and at 15" high by 20" diameter they may well be a bit bigger than 60ltr. And I guess it wasn't strictly correct to say they were grown with no fertilisers as I used Vitax compost which does have added Q4 in it.

In hindsight I should have made up a small batch of the mix I used earlier in the year (which you may recall from our discussions here is not dissimilar to the one you use), but I was pressed for time and ended up just chucking them in!

Still, there's always next year...  :)

Thanks, it's nice of you to say so!  :)
