Selling on
« on: July 21, 2009, 17:42 »
Hi all,
Quite new to all this so I might be in the wrong place, but deep breath and here goes.
I have just had my first crop of beetroots and very nice they are too. I have given some to friends and family and have eaten quite a few too. The thing is I have pickled alot, infact far too much for just me. So I was thinking could I sell some if they were labled cottage kitchen in my local green grocers?
Thanks
Sometimes we all need a little help.

If you garden on an allotment you may be prohibited from selling your produce.  Check your tenancy agreement.

If you have grown them on a council plot,i think you will find that you are not allowed to sell your produce.I believe this is to deter market gardeners etc from setting up small businesses etc.I may be wrong, but we cant sell the produce from our plots. Also someone is sure to shop you,no pun intended :)

I agree; allotments were set up for the cultivation of produce etc for the family, and therefore selling is not allowed by many (if not most) tenancies.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

My excess (and I deliberately grow a lot of it) goes to church coffee mornings. It's not sold, donations are given and the cash does not go to me.

Unfortunately.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

In the main the big problem is selling for your own back pocket.
