How long do you have to wait to eat your potatoes after applying bordeaux mixture?

As far as I can remember, it's a wash and eat job, but I stand to be corrected.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Bordeaux mixture is banned after the end of 2013. It contains copper sulphate which is toxic to a lot of life. Do you really want to be putting all that copper on your soil.

There are alternatives but they are not organic, not that I can understand why the 'organics' considered it organic anyway.

Best plan is to wait until blight strikes and then cut off all the tops.

Ditto Salmo - I don't use anything at all, never have and I still get good results :)

Just got back from corfu, and all the gardeners and allotmenters have their spuds, runners ect sprayed bright blue. Not having used bordeaux, is that what this is, and do we think they will follow the rules in 2013!?!!?

Well, I didn't know a ban was in the offing. I've sprayed my tomatoes as well, although I normally use carbonate of soda for those. Anyway, the stuff is on them now. So does anybody know how long I have to wait twist spray and consumption?
