Spring, Summer, Winter Cabbage

Does Spring, Summer and Winter Cabbage refer to when you harvest the cabbage - so spring cabbage would be to over winter and be harvested in spring the next year and autumn and winter would be for harvest this year?

Have I got this right?

So should I not sow Spring Cabbage until autumn? I sowed Pixie (spring cabbage) and they are looking really good but they are too early for next year. Can I harvest them this year in some way?

This should answer some of the questions:

Sowing them early will just mean they'll be ready early. Simply harvest them when they are useable.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
