Bald bottoms and sneezes
« on: March 19, 2009, 13:43 »
Mabel my black rock was having a sun bathe, when I noticed she had a bare bottom! I picked her up and held her upside down like cradling a baby and she let me??????  All underneath is bare  I picked up both Charlie and Bob(sussex) who were brought at the same time and they are the same.......I'm thinking Moulting??  We had them in Sept and they were POL so wouldn't it be a bit early?????  That makes them born in june????

Doris then strutted herself over to me who was also brought at the same time.  She too is looking a bit thin underneath so maybe ???    She then sneezed and so did Mabel....then one of the ex-batts but I was presented with a bubble from her nose AHHHHHhhhhhh >:(
Have all my girls got mycoplasma or is it because they are becoming featherless???  If it is Mycoplasma what am I doing wrong???? :(

Nickers!!! I'm signed in under Roll Roll!!!!!!
I may take my time.....but i'll get there in the end.

Stress of moulting may have fetched on the snuffles :(
Are there any other symptoms? Smell round nostrils, weezing, coughing, any swelling round the face ?

Could just be some dust got up their noses after their bath ???

Thanks sarah ::)

There is no smell from any of them and to be honest I hadn't realised they were moulting??  There had been a few feathers but not masses like I would have expected!  They are fine and having a whale of a time in the sun bathing even the ex-batt (I must start to call them by their name!) although sneezing and bubbling is more than happy!  It could just be the dust of the sun and dirt making them sneeze......

Is there anything they can have for their molt to keep them well???

You could add some poultry spice to their food :)
I tend to go with some cat food once a week seems to do the trick :)
