Finally able to get on and do some things today. Planted 6 new raspberry canes, cleared a weedy area to make a herb bed for OH and decided where to put the new pear tree. Hopefully do that tomorrow.

removed the turf then a good full spade depth digging.  2 good days work but the backsaver spade made short work of it.

Lovely day of sunshine today but a heavy frost first thing so a bit later than I intended I got to the plot & moved some compost from No 2 bin to No 3,deposited all the waste I'd taken up there into No1 bin. Then I dug up 2 rows of parsnips & weeded that bed, just 2 more rows left(5ft rows) & some leeks for dinner. Tidied round a bit, then weeded the asparagus bed & then weeded where I decided to plant the daffodil bulbs I found in the shed, then swept the paths & home to cook dinner.

Well not on the plot today, but washed all my flowerpots and tubs ready for the onslaught of Spring and lots of lovely veg! :)

I did visit and add to my compost bin. ;)

Yesterday I put up a 9mtr long fleece tunnel ready for the onions and leeks, hoed the pathways and did a general "dust and polish" on the patch.  Sowed some more veggie seeds in cells in my little plastic greenhouse, potted on the toms, chard, cabbages and  aubergines that I sowed in January into home-made newspaper pots.  Today I will be sowing early turnips and spinach under a plastic tunnel.  Now what else shall I do today
Now what shall I do today?

A lovely sunny day today and mild. Only needed to wear 2 fleeces!
Painted shed, dug out unproductive blackberry, planted raspberry canes - free from Sainsbury's mag before Christmas. General tidy up and had a small fire.  So lovely to be out in the sunshine. All fired up for the new season now.

today i dug over 2 beds and weeded them. Burnt some more grass on the bonfire. Trimmed the edges of the plot with my big choppers and laid weed membrane around the gooseberry and blackcurrant bushes and placed bark chippings on the top to stop the grass/weeds from coming back.

Erected a compost bin (valentine's present) - how romantic! Attempted to dig over vegetable patch but it's still a bit claggy, waterlogged and heavy. Soil sticking to wellies, spade, fork etc. Forked the lawn in an attempt to improve drainage. Started off sweet peas in small pots, I don't have a greenhouse so I'm using some clear plastic tubs as cloches. Potatoes are chitting and am awaiting on herb's germinating - I have both on window sills in the house. I'd appreciate some advice about starting off my veg patch and will post some photos soon to give you an idea of the scale of the task I have.

moved the "rubbish" around the new 1/2 of the plot again to get at the bit i wanted to "play" with today. Went with the intention of planting 12 Aldi "bargain" asparagus plants. Only managed to get 4 in, as the soil is still a bit too claggy.
