positioning a hen house
« on: August 22, 2010, 22:53 »
I am spoiled for choice for a position to place my chicken run/house.I have bought a self contained unit for 6-8 large birds and i am pondering weither to site it on a concrete base or a soft ground base, the advantage of the concrete is that mr Fox will not be able to dig under, yet this will deprive the birds of an area to scratch around.I intend to let them loose in the garden during day light.
also i would preferr it if my birds hung around my driveway close to the house as it is open fields to the bottom, could i train them by placing feed around the house and the garden area, away from the paddocks?

Hello,

You could sit the unit's frame on some concrete slabs for security, but keep the main interior space soft ground (if that makes sense) ?

What dimensions is the unit ?
