Is it ok to be putting my squashes and beetroot seeds into my raised beds yet?? i  read that they are hardy to the frost or should i hold fire a while

You may get away with beet, but deffo not squashes - the slightest whiff of frost and they're dead.

They can't go out until it stays more like 10C at night, even then they can sulk until it's warmer

I don't sow squashes in the greenhouse until the middle of May. Even then, I sow some backups just in case we get a late frost.

I'm normally planting out by the middle of May, after raising the plants in the greenhouse, but we'll have to wait and see what the weather does over the next few weeks

I sowed a few squashes and courgettes today in the greenhouse. I'll do some more in a couple of weeks and then the same until May/June, that way you can catch the perfect time for planting (whenever that might be) with a couple of perfect plants.

I find it also means that I have some courgette/squash plants to use as follow-on after things like broad beans.
