This weekend I plan to plant out my leeks but not sure whether just to use BFB or chicken manure pellets in either the dibbing hole or around the plant.

I don't think they need anything except water at first.  If you feed too much they may not be hardy enough to stand the winter because they'll be too lush.  I don't feed many things and get good results but then I am on fertile clay.  I guess a little won't do them any harm.  It will give you time to solve that crossword clue whilst you're dibbing......hehe!

Mine get chicken poo pellets thrown at them after dibbing and planting - some goes in the holes, some doesn't!

My soil is sandy and I wouldn't get much of any crop without additional feeding.

That's good to know what fertiliser others use. I will also be planting out some leeks in the next few days.

Chicken poo raked in before planting, & if they look a little slow later on a bit more chucked around then watered.

I always water them in with Miracle Grow,they stand to attention immediately never lose any.

Ah - that's a good idea, as I'm using Miracle Grow liquid feed for the first time this year and am pleased with the way it has given plants a boost either as a normal or foliar feed.
