Here it is - the new plot!!!!
« on: March 07, 2008, 18:00 »

two half plots side by side - each 5m x 22m

a few beds in the right hand plot already in place - old sprouts need sorting!!

lots of celery plants in the ground - will they grow into anything??

and lots of strawberry plants too - little welsh ones according to my new neighbour!

neighbour's plot next door looking immaculate! only been an allotment site for a year or so - I think they've done a great job

someone getting a delivery of 'gardener's gold' straight form the source!!  What a great old school tractor - so much character!!!
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

This is my second year battling with my allotment.  My neighbour has had his only a little longer but it is in lovely condition now, a constant reminder how just how much I've still to do!  I try and regard it as 'inspiration' rather than a rebuke!

Good luck and enjoy!  Keeping my fingers crossed for the weather but it's not looking good.

Wow, your neighbors plot is very nice.

You have got a lot of work to do, are you hand digging it all?

Well the short term plan is to spruce up the existing beds in the right hand plot, there are three 5m x 3m beds already dug that just need some weeding and digging over and a few smaller beds down the bottom. Plenty of space.

I'll get those going and then look at the other grown over side - the allotment is pretty new and used to be a field. I think I am the first keeper of the left hand plot so I'm starting with a stone riddled meadow!

I might hand dig a couple of 1-2 feet wide rows to grow some cut flowers and spuds on that side then maybe get a machine in later in the year.

I'm also going to put a compost heap and maybe a shed on that side too.

Sound like a reasonable plan??

looks fantastic

Don't worry bout the plot next door  :D

My next door plot is a right dump but I really like the guy so we just rub along. Folks howl at his weeds and his grotty shed but he goes there to chill, so do I, so we're perfect neighbours.  He doesn't eat his veg - I do  :D
