Like diggin!! Your not alone our plot is covered in the stuff - as the plot was neglected for a few years before we had it, its spread into some of the surrounding gardens   as well

Im being really careful to lift as much of the roots as possile when digging!!! Like savbo we found covering the area encourged a lot of roots close to the surface and some sneaky little bits started popping up just beyond the covering.  To be honest we finally relented and have started using round up to try and weaken the growth a bit more. A few applications defnitely made a difference.  I have read (Possibly on here??) about putting some suitable weedkiller into a jar and fitting as much of the bindweed in as you can to leave it soak and obviously being careful!!? Havent tried this as we seem to be motoring on well as we are.

I would prefer to be totally organic but I am also realistic and got fed up going to the plot and finding it wrapped around something new.
