Nettle tea, now what?
« on: February 20, 2010, 18:05 »
Hi All

I made a big bucket (50L) of nettle tea (nettles in water)

The thing is it did this in Autumn and its well an truely stinky and green.

Will it still be ok to use and how should i use it? I want to add it to some freshly dug over beds before planting in a month or so, should i dilute it and if so how much. Also i'm guessing it will be high in Nitrogen so is there anything that won't grow well in it (carrots/persnips etc?)

Thanks

Don't know about adding it now. I use that sort of stuff as a liquid feed once the plants are established. Remember to dilute it first.

I would probably not use it directly, even diluted, but you could pour it into your compost I reckon rather than waste it.

Easy enough to make some fresh stuff as soon as the nettles shoot up again, just in time for boosting growth for those tomatoes  :D
