Nah, they are posh and they put gutters on the kennel :D

I'm hoping to grow one large enough to tidy from my upstairs bedroom window. So, if i get 13+ feet (tis possible with a good season). I have to shell out on good seed however.

Anyone got any pictures of their old ones? Post them here.

I have NEVER grown a sunflower before. This will be my very first attempt.

I'm going to prepare some ground tomorrow if I get a chance.

Have to see if I can find any dead wildlife to bury at the base of it. As well as my super-enriched compost.  :)

ROB! I'm disgusted with your suggestion that you'd bury dead animals at the bottom. Don't you know that you need to grind them first for DIY B,F&B? I suggest you add some mackerel to the hole as well so we can get your cats to dig the sunflowers up for us!

On a serious note does anyone have their own 'special' formulas they use when growing?

Shaun concrete doesn't count.

I've decided to grow one next to the chicken run, there's that much manure there it'll probably block the flight path for EMA

Garddwr i can say quite truthfully once you have them out of jumping range they leave them quite alone. It's just a battle to get them big enough first. Rich how many hens do you have?

Having inspected my compost, I'm going to have to leave it to stew for a while longer. Too many unrotted bits in it.
So I'll have to get in some stuff. I have my name on a huge pile of 'ossmuck from freecycle but need to find out if it's pesticide free.

Then it'll be thrown liberally around the garden with gay abandon.

Might have to grow something fast sprouting to test it for safety.

Only 4 for now, I'd like some more but I'm torn between eggs for hatching  or POL both have their +'s

I'm more worried about the bloomin squirrel playing lumber jack when it get's to 20' +   ;)

I'll be growing my usual ones, they're quite specialised and in fact not widely available, but are known as Martian Monsters, due to their incredible size and reddish hue.  I usually plant them next to the pylons in the village - they're kind of picturesque.  Sorry guys but if I enter with my MMs, I'll be winning!  :) :tongue2: :)
