On a serious note, what support system are you going to use?

I'm going to use last years dried 8-10ft stems. :D

I was just reading that dried stems go very woody and make good firewood.

I'll have to buy a couple of stakes and run a wire between. I hope to grow a block of them for good measure.

I saved last years to turn into compost. They are full of some mineral if i remember rightly; I think potassium is the one.

I'm tempted to grow mine next to a wall. Good for the warmth next to the air brick from the house... does this class as cheating? :D

If you start about mid-june, it should ensure you get to about the 2nd leaves by the time we all finish. :)  ...obviously this doesn't allow for the time spent in custody

Another one sorted

You lot are so silly.
We grow a couple of sunflowers and we usually manage to get them to nearly 10ft wind allowing.
When will measuring take place? Ours aren't usually fully grown until about September.

You've just answered the question Matron :D

I guess it would be unfair to set an earlier date due to seasonal differences. Someone on the south coast might get a longer season than in the Highlands so it needs to be left until growth has stopped. :)
