Thanks Littleredhen   DH suggested getting another one and doing the same! It does have some good points - it's dead easy to clean out. I just lock the hens into the run part and clean out through the nest box part.

One took me by suprise last week though...I could have sworn they were both in the run when I shut the door, then flung the lid of the next box open, and shoved the brush in....only Liz must have nipped up the ladder and I didn't see her! not sure who was more shocked - Liz at meeting my brush or me as she lept over my sholder

I've just bought a 5 foot by 3 foot shed (ie will take 15 chickens) for less than 100 quid.  makes the house look very over priced.
