Strange behavoir
« on: October 29, 2009, 19:43 »
Hi All i picked up my first two birds today (16 week warrens) they took about an hour before venturing out from there coop, once out they headed for our glass door that leads into living room pecking at glass and scratching to get in, i thought this a bit strange so opened the door they shot in and made them selves at home has any one got any idear why they are doing this?.
As it was getting dark about 5 pm they jumped onto the garden table which i had moved so they could`nt  use it to escape and got as close to the window as possible and settled down i moved them to coop and locked them in anyone got any idears on this one aswell----Fred

Sounds like you need to keep a close eye on them .......

or they will be moving in. :D

possibly they saw their reflections and went in looking for the other hens.

Lol! mine come into the house all the time. People say im bonkers when I tell them the girls knock on the french doors! Re going to bed, they will find their way eventually, as soon as it gets dark chickens know theyre vulnerable to predators and find their way into their house. Try bribery perhaps? entice em in with grapes if you have to!
good luck

Our peacock does the same thing: will spend all day looking at himself in the glass of the kitchen door   ::)
When we open the door he rushes in, convinced that his rival is hiding somewhere in the kitchen, I suppose.   :D
