Hen sick?
« on: June 25, 2011, 10:11 »
Hello can someone out there please give me advice for one of my chickens. Last August a lost hen of unkown age, wondered into my garden, after long searches and phone calls no one claimed her so I ended up keeping her buying her a house and friend & all that goes with it they have layers pellets in the morning corn in the afternoon and free to roam a fenced off area in the garden. 1st June she stopped laying, four days later she had no interest in anything I came online to get advice. After massageing her rear and washing with warm water she perked up. I got antibiotic powder to mix in water & oyster shell  she started laying very soft unformed eggs then went back to laying normal as before all happy again. Yesturday I noticed she was quite in the afternoon no interst in food or drink tho she had eaten her breakfast. Today I have brought her inside and done as before, her coomb is red her eyes bright but shes not intersted in anything just stands??? can anyone help?
