Yes that wind is a nuisance, Mrs B, it knocked over the big pot with my Regal Lilies in, it's cracked now :(

JRT is really poorly, is that because it's so hot?

Poor thing, she isn't herself at all.

Maybe a fan would help?

She has one by her cushion, John.

I sat with her for a while this morning, but she's just lethargic and shaky on her paws.

She's been here before, and gets over it, but you always worry...

Fingers crossed for you, been where you are.

One of our cats was walking in the shaded part of the patio, there was a patch where it ran out and she stopped and hissed at it before running into the next shaded bit. Grumpy cat!

Our cats just lie about the house in a shady spot except first thing in the morning or in the evening when they go out to have a look around etc, a bit similar to me and OH really. I'm not grumpy but a bit fed up because it's far too hot and I can't be bothered to do the jobs I need to do. Growster - I do hope JRT starts feeling a bit better soon. It's awful when you know something's wrong with a pet but don't know what else to do except making them comfortable and giving them lots of love and kind words.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Thanks Goosey and John!

She is a much better and has been on a couple of very slow walks, with all functions OK now!

She doesn't like the heat though, like 99% of any dogs I suppose! I gave her a quick comb and a gallon of fur came out, which may cool her down a bit too...;0)

30 degrees here right now.  Yesterday evening it was so hot, the wind dropped a little bit, and it was very clammy.
Shall go and sit on the front garden bench (north facing) and look at the common - lovely.   Mrs Bouquet

Phew, I'm so relieved! Good idea to give her a combing as not only will it make her feel cooler but also must feel pretty nice too. Must give it a try!

Loving it.
What is there not to like being outside in scorching heat.

The sunshine is gorgeous but the temperature is a bit too high for me. I went to my plot in the evening on Sunday because the heat just sapped my energy whenever I went outside during the day. For optimal conditions, about 5C cooler with rain a couple of times a week would be perfect.

Goosey, I have been looking after a doggie this weekend, she is very tiny so I put a little inch of so of cold water in a flat bowl, and popped her feet in, I also put some "sensitive skin" baby wipes in the 'fridge, and I have been wiping her down with them, given her ice cubes to lick, and I think she has enjoyed her stay - gone home now.  Lets hope it cools down a little for these animals soon, and maybe some of us !!!! I read a post that I think was by you John .... it referred to hay-fever.... so here's my miles late response:

Hay fever, head-ache and blocked nose  (generally feeling rotten and heady)?

I've had the same for years on & off since childhood - my hearing also suffers. I found Flixinase nasal spray is absolutely brilliant. (Flixinase is hard to find so Pirinase is the nearest I can get - available from chemists)

2 sprays per nostril and a few minutes later I can feel that blocked up heady feeling beginning to clear.
If you haven't tried it give it a go John.
