Hi all

i have a shed that im going to convert to a chicken housing. Are there any plans on this site or others that can point me in the right direction?

keep simple nest boxes low down as far away from door as poss and few higher perches for em roost on

I couldn't find specific plans for converting a shed on here, but if you look through the piccies on this thread, there is everything from custom built coops, to sheds and outbuildings being used.  Could give you some ideas

Agree with Finley. If you don't intend to fill the shed with chooks think about splitting it. In winter it could be very cold with only a few girls. You could use the other half for storage. Good idea converting a shed  cheaper than purpose built but do get design right

My girls prefer nesting off the ground and don't like to jump so slopes and easy steps are good.  I have perches that will lift out and can clean easily with poo trays underneath so easy transfer to the compost bin (plastic trays).

Foxy can scratch his way through thin wood.  Just spent the morning screwing metal sheets to a vulnerble wooden door.

An auto pop hole is heavenly - easier for the hen sitter.

I really enjoyed putting mine together - scavenging at the local recycling centre/skips was fun and creative.
