DD - when is pea planting day?

I always sow my peas like that. Make a shallow trench. Scatter the peas. Walk on them to press them well into the soil. Rake soil to fill the trench. Tamp down with the back of the rake.

Only try this on light sandy soil.

I threw caution to the wind today and sowed some peas. The forecast is for getting warmer next week.

If the mice eat them or they rot I will sow some more. If not I will have early peas.

They came through yesterday with the rain. Looking bootifull .

I grew "Oasis" peas last year and the peas were ok  but not anything sweet or tasty, but we did eat the pods and shoots from the plants. the pods in early pickings were tender but as the pods got older they did become stringy, but still flavoursome and you can make a lovely strained pea pod soup, used as the base for pea or pea/ham soup or pea pod wine with them.
